Atlantic City’s misfortunes can be ostensibly blamed on the weak economy, but competition is also a serious problem for New Jersey’s extensive gambling industry. Both Pennsylvania and Delaware has opened up full blown gambling centers, incorporating the best of casino gaming and poker gaming into some very well designed gambling locations.
New Jersey’s gaming control board has been working toward saving the floundering gambling industry in the state. Sports betting has been suggested, albeit shot down.
Weak economy? How bout weak town? Once again, New Jersey can't do anything right... can't make left turns, can't pump your own gas, can't run the biggest second largest gambling area in the U.S. Anyone that steps outside the casinos quickly realizes what a shit hole AC is... why? because after gambling was legalized in the late 70s AC sat on its fat ass and expected degenerates to flock there. After the building boom of the 80s, and the Taj opening in 1990, nothing was built until 2003 when the Borgata provided a glimmer of Las Vegas, and a glimmer of hope... Too little, too late. By that point the other properties were decrepit, crack whores and scum trolled the boardwalk and neighboring states were beginning to legalize gambling - Delaware and the death blow of Pennsylvania in 2004. Sorry AC, you missed the fucking boat - rather than create Las Vegas East, you've got a busted out shore town with some slot machines.
Why would Philly people drive 2 hours r/t, pay $14 in tolls and $5-15 bucks to park to spend time in that fleabag - when they can be at Parx or Chester in minutes throwing dice and blacking out. Why waste the time and money to get there - there isn't even worthwhile entertainment anymore. Upcoming entertainment includes; Tony Orlando, Dick Cheney, and Ann Coulter - Fuck, even the best the Borgata can do is Bill Cosby, Stone Temple Pilots and Crosby Stills and Nash... I'd rather stab myself in the eye.
The only real entertainment in AC in the past year was KFC and kmarko's smokeshow pong team... yea its that bad.
